2008 Approved Trakehner Stallions
A warm welcome to the five stallions approved by the American Trakehner Asoociation in 2008. They are as follows:

Bond James Bond MB, owned by Elevages Mallet Barsalou of Quebec, Canada
Cardinali, owned by Jeanette Knight (Wolf Run Farm) of Buxton, Maine
Imminence, owned by Jean Brinkman (Valhalla Farm) of Wellborn, Fla.
Tatendrang, owned by Ann Cottongim (Emerald Acres) of Alford, Fla. (pictured above)
Trakehner stallions are not born approved; all stallions are presented for inspection and judged on athletic ability, conformation and attitude. Additionally, stallions must pass a rigorous performance test.

American Trakehner Association 2008 Convention
The American Trakehner Association (ATA) is pleased to announce its 2008 Convention to be held November 20 – 22 in Burbank, Ca. The ATA convention will feature an array of activities from board meetings to stallion inspections, the mare show, branding, show jumping, a dressage exhibition and much more – all showcasing the versatile Trakehner horse. All horse related activities will occur at the LA Equestrian Center. Board meetings and evening networking events and dinners will take place at the Glendale Hilton. Here is the schedule at a glance:
Thursday, November 20
8 a.m. – Mare and Young horse show judged by Hilda Gurney, suitability class to follow judged by Margo Hoagland and Jean Brinkman.
1 - 3:30 p.m. – Seminar/Demonstration, topics to be announced
3:30 p.m. – Seminar/Demonstration in outdoor arena
6:30 p.m. – Reception at the Glendale Hilton
8 p.m. – ATA Horse of the Year Award Announcements

Lovely Warmblood Hunter for Sale Jumps 2′9″
Trakehner mare Just Royal is for sale and can be seen and ridden at Huntington, a full service hunter/jumper sales and training barn located in Ball Ground, Ga.
This feminine mare is schooling 2′6″ to 2′9″ and is ready to show. Just Royal is 7 years old, 15.3h and bay. She has wonderful ground manners and is an easy ride for an adult amateur or a child. This typey warmblood will make a wonderful Hunter show horse.

World Equestrian Games Gears ups for Ticket Sales
Tickets for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games will go on sale in a year –September 25, 2009. The announcement of ticket sales comes at the “Halfway There” Celebration with two years to go until the Games.
“We are excited to announce the much-anticipated on-sale date for tickets to the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games,” said Ruth Mason, Director of Ticketing. “With a high demand for tickets, we have created a ticket program that will be accessible and affordable for interested buyers.”
Approximately 600,000 tickets will be available for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. Tickets will be priced as low as $25. In addition, General Admission tickets will be available, providing access to the Kentucky Horse Park for the day, where visitors can experience various equine demonstrations and browse the extensive trade show.
Ticket sales will be facilitated by the 2010 Games Ticketing Provider, Ticketmaster, Inc. All ticket sales will be completed online at Ticketmaster.com. Final ticket prices will be (Continued…)

ATA Announces 2008 Inspections
The American Trakehner Association (ATA) is pleased to announce its 2008 Inspection schedule. Inspections provide the opportunity to present horses for approval into the ATA studbooks, as well as offer participants a tremendous learning experience. All horses that are presented for inspection must be pre-registered with the ATA.
The inspection process is clearly defined on the ATA website, but basically it includes the following elements:
1. Stand to be measured (height, girth, and canon bone)
2. Walk and trot on a hard surface (sometimes asphalt)
3. Walk and trot on a triangle in an arena. (usually sand or other soft footing)
4. Walk, trot, and canter at liberty in an arena.
5. Stallions must also free jump three obstacles. Mares do not jump.
6. Walk for final evaluation before the results are announced.

Why the Big Red Horse and I are a Perfect Match
Last night as we headed out to dinner, the Big Red Horse was standing at the gate requesting to come in. There was lots of daylight left, but we could tell that he REALLY wanted to be in the barn. Since I was wearing heels, Bill was nice enough to take him into the barn. It was at that point that I realized why Favian and I have such a great relationship. We agree on three main points:
- Flies and bugs are pesky & there is never enough flyspray
- Heat and humidity are no fun, that is why we have ceiling fans
- If you are going out after dark, take someone with you
Here’s to automatic flyspray systems (we installed one this year), fly sheets, fans and having fun company.
